After her presentation at the **fashion weeks** in Panama and Guatemala, Spanish designer Olga Recio surprises us with a line of pashminas.
**WOMAN** – **What inspired you to create this series of pashminas?**
**OR** – For a long time, I wanted to develop a line of accessories made from natural fibers. I started more than a year ago, and finally, the first products are now coming to light. The collection's objective is the same as we maintain at OR for our collections: to create unique and timeless pieces, of high quality and versatility, that can be used on different occasions.
**WOMAN** – **Why did you choose Cashmere fiber?**
**OR** – I started with Cashmere because it's a fiber I love due to its softness and qualities. And because I think it fulfills the functions I wanted to offer with these pashminas or "scarves": to obtain a very soft and light garment that protects from the cold, but without giving too much heat.
**WOMAN** – **What characteristics does this fabric have?**
**OR** – Cashmere is a fiber that comes from a species of goat that only grows in an area located in the high regions of the Himalayas, known as Kashmir; hence the name. It is one of the rarest fibers that exist. This and its properties make it one of the most expensive and exclusive.
**WOMAN** – **What details make these pashminas unique?**
**OR** – The material itself makes them unique, but we have added embroidery and hand-finished details, which makes the pieces very special. Soon, we will be expanding the collection, launching 100% Cashmere scarves for men.
**WOMAN** – **When or on what occasion should they be worn?**
**OR** – I always carry one in my bag, as I always get cold in public places. I wear the ones with simpler details and designs to cover myself in a restaurant, at dinner, at the cinema, or while "shopping"; while the more elaborate ones serve as an accessory to give my "look" a more sophisticated touch, and I use them when I have to dress up for an event.
These holiday occasions are perfect, for example, to give a special touch to that simpler dress, or when we want to be comfortable and the "look" needs a more sophisticated air. But, in reality, they can be used for any occasion and with any "outfit". A Cashmere pashmina always adds to your look, never detracts.
**WOMAN** – **How was the manufacturing process?**
**OR** – That was more complicated. I started working with trial and error until I achieved what I wanted because I desired a special collection. Once we found a supplier who could work with us and dye the Cashmere in the colors we wanted, we needed to do embroidery and detail tests. We also wanted our logo to be woven into the fiber, so that also took us a long time until they achieved it. When you open the pashmina, the only way to ensure it's an original OR is if it has our logo in the weave, which can be seen against the light.
In short, there were many details and a long process that took us more than a year, but we are very happy with the result.
